Day in the Life
Keyboard Warrior
Some may think that content writing is merely an endless and monotonous cycle of spewing out words. But I vehemently resist that assumption. Working as a writer for TRACCS means that every day is different, exciting and fun. We're not keyboard crunchers, we're keyboard warriors! With such a diverse portfolio of clients and a varied scope of work, no two days are the same and every day is an opportunity for learning. If you were wondering what a typical one might look like, here's your answer.
Rise and Shine!
I reach the office at 8.30am, catch up with the team and make a coffee. Because without coffee, nothing else would be possible.
Now I'm at optimal productivity, its time to open the emails. Check requests, check feedback, check and double-check schedule.
It doesn't take me long to get into the nitty gritty, and in any given day this will mean one or a number of the following:
Press Releases
Design Narratives
Branding Strategies
Features or Editorials
Annual Reports
Interviews
Social Media Messages
Speeches or Speaking Points
Biographies
Website content
Profiles
Award Submissions
Internal Messages/ Announcements
I'll pretty much turn my hand to anything that can be put into words.
Phew! Its about time for another coffee.
On some days we will have a meeting to discuss ideas, campaigns, new clients, what's for lunch.
And then its back to the warmth and security of my desk. Research is a big factor and I may spend hours ensuring I can turn something out with the tone of someone with authority. Some days I'm a banker, others a car salesperson, a CEO, a hotelier, a developer...the list goes on.
I can submit, usually, up to four documents in a day. Equating to about 1,400 words (an educated guess). Sometimes there are revisions, on my best days there aren't.
And when that's done its time to go home and re-calibrate for another day of madness. I can sincerely say I love my job, from the clients to my colleagues, the hard days to the breezy ones, I (nearly) always face the day with a smile.
